ICC rejects Salman Butt and Mohammad Amir's appeals against suspensions | The International Cricket Council (ICC) has upheld the suspensions of Pakistani cricketers Salman Butt and Mohammad Amir over their alleged involvement in ‘spot-fixing’ in a Test match during Pakistan ’s tour of England last August.
“I have decided to dismiss the application... all three players accordingly are
still for the time being unable to participate in cricketing activities,” the
Dawn quoted Michael Beloff, the head of the ICC's code of conduct commission,
as saying. Beloff was talking to reporters in Dubai after the two-day hearing
on the appeals of Butt and Aamer. The third tainted player- Mohammad Asif- had
already withdrawn his appeal, saying that he needed more time for his lawyers
to prepare for the case. The innocence or guilt of the players, who have denied
any wrongdoing, will be judged at an independent tribunal, the date of which has
yet to be set. On September 2, the ICC had suspended batsman Salman and pace
bowlers
Aamer and Asif over allegations of spot fixing during the Lord’s Test against
England in August.
