Yeddyurappa to again prove majority in Karnataka Assembly on Thursday | Karnataka Chief Minister B.S.Yeddyurappa on Tuesday evening expressed his readiness to undergo the Vote of Confidence in the State Assembly on October 14 as directed by the Governor. In a letter written to Governor H.R.Bhardwaj, the Chief Minister has conveyed
his readiness for the floor test in the Assembly. Governor Bhardwaj had earlier
today written to Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa asking him to prove his majority
again on the floor of the Assembly by 11 a.m. on October 14. In his letter, Govenor
Bhardwaj said the trust vote on Monday was improper and that the Bharatiya Janata
Party (BJP) Government had failed to prove its majority. Bhardwaj said that he
was ready to give Yeddyurappa one more chance to demonstrate that his government
commanded a majority in the Assembly. In another development, Janata Dal (S) leader
H. D. Kumaraswamy met Governor H.R.Bhardwaj in Raj Bhavan, a television e channel
reported in the evening. Meanwhile, agitated over Karnataka Governor Hansraj Bhardwaj's
communications over the Vote of Confidence by the B.S.Yeddyuraapa-led Government
in the State Assembly, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday demanded his recall
by the Central Government. Speaking to reporters in the national capital today,
senior BJP leader and the Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Arun Jaitley,
said that Bhardwaj's action smacked of bias. "The Governor has completely lost
his impartiality. He can't be custodian of the Constitution in the state of Karnataka.
The central government must immediately recall this Governor because he has defied
all norms of political impartiality," said Jaitley after a meeting of the senior
party leaders in New Delhi. Jaitley also blamed the Governor for the political
crisis in the state. "We are of considered opinion, after going through all the
facts, that there is neither a political crisis nor any Constitutional crisis
in the State. It is crisis being deliberately generated by the Governor of the
State," said Jaitley. The Karnataka High Court today adjourned the hearing in
a case related to disqualification of 16 MLAs by the Karnataka State Assembly
Speaker, till Monday. The High Court's Bench comprising Chief Justice JS Khehar
and Justice N Kumar adjourned the hearing after arguments were concluded on behalf of 11 BJP MLAs and orders were reserved on their petition.
