Angry mob torches two buses in West Bengal | Angry mob in West Bengal's Hoogly district
on Tuesday burnt down two buses after a woman was crushed to death by a speeding bus. The incident, which took place at the Delhi Road highway, triggered protests
by the locals who also blocked the roads. According to the locals, reckless driving
by the bus driver caused the mishap. "These kinds of accidents have been occurring
for a long time here. We have asked authorities to take action so many times,
but no step has been taken yet. The accident occurred today when two buses were
competing with each other," said Amiya Santra, a local person. With the rising
number of road accidents, the traffic police of West Bengal have identified 33
vulnerable and dangerous crossings across the city, which they intend to monitor
more strictly. The crossings include Strand Road, Old Court House Street, Dufferin
Street, Rippon Street, Howrah Bridge and CIT Road. |
