CWG: 35 gold medals at stake, all eyes upon Indian shooters

     After a splendid performance on the third day of the XIXth Commonwealth Games by the Indian contingent, Day 4 is all set to be an eventful day with 35 gold medals at stake and once again all eyes set on Indian shooters Tejaswini Sawant, Lajakummari Gauswami and Omkar Singh, who will shoot for gold in their respective events. Tejaswini Sawant and Lajakummari Gauswami will compete in the Women's 50m Rifle 3 Positions singles event. Omkar Singh, who won gold in the 50metre Pistol final on Wednesday, will again be in action in the 10m Air Pistol Men. Ace shooter Ronjan Sodhi, who won silver in the doubles event on Wednesday, will also be in action today and look to excel in the Double Trap Men singles event. Boxers Akhil Kumar and Suronjoy will be in action in the pre-quarter finals and are expected to sail through to the next round. In the 400 meters women's category, Mandeep Kaur and Manjeet Kaur will take part in the semi-finals. The Indian women's hockey, which is the 2002 Commonwealth Games champs, will clash against Trinidad and Tobago today. Athlete Najeeb Qureshi, who made it to the semi-finals of the 100 mts, will also be looking to make the finals. After weightlifter Ravi Kumar lifted a Games record of total 321kg (146kg snatch and 175kg clean and jerk) in the 69kg category event to win the 11th gold for India, weightlifter Sudhir Kumar will also eye upon gold in the 77 kg men's final today. The Indian archery team, which defeated Trinidad and Tobago by 219-224 to make it to the quarterfinals in the compound team championship, will look to emulate the good work of the recurve archers by qualifying for the finals of the event.
