Huge cache of explosives seized from Maoist hideouts in Jharkhand | Jharkhand police seized a huge cache of explosives during raids on Maoist hideouts on Wednesday. On Monday, three Maoists, who surrendered before the
Jharkhand
police, had provided information of their hideouts. Acting on the tip off, the
police conducted raids in the forest area of Bundu, and recovered three claymore
mines from one place, 534 boosters and two bomb containers. "This is very big
achievement for all of us as we have recovered the boosters for the third time.
Before this recovery, we recovered such boosters twice in large quantities and
we are trying for more such recoveries in future," said Michael Raj, Superintendent
of Police, Ranchi. Around 15 to 20 rebels have laid down their weapons in last
two months since the state government started the 'Surrender Policy for the Maoists'
to rehabilitate them. "With this new policy, many Maoists are now surrendering.
Earlier they feared that if they surrender, police will put them behind bars and
would punish them. But now as government has announced financial assistance for
them and their families, they don't fear to surrender anymore," added Raj.
