Strong 'tail wind' from AC system troubling Kiwi badminton team at Delhi CWG venue

New Zealand's premier badminton player Joe Wu has raised concerns about the powerful tail wind being generated by the Siri Fort Sports Complex's air-conditioning system. Joe's comments came after the New Zealand team thrashed Jamaica 5-0 to begin their Delhi Commonwealth Games mixed teams badminton campaign on Monday. "It was quite warm in here, so maybe they didn't have it on full blast but there was a good breeze. There's a bit to get used to and there is clearly a faster end and a slower end, so you have to adjust and hopefully we can do that again," Stuff.co.nz quoted Joe, as saying. "When I changed ends the other guy hit so many out the back. It's hard to say what will be easier. Probably into it because you don't put it long so much, but then into it you need to be careful because if you do it too short they just smack it down," he added. Meanwhile, New Zealand coach Thanabalan Arikrishnan said that he had raised the issue with Games organizers, and had been assured that it would be fixed. "It might change, but you never know. We've told them. They say there will not be any breeze. We'd rather have it hotter and calmer," Arikrishnan said. New Zealand will play Sri Lanka today in what is likely to be the decisive match in deciding whether they advance to the quarterfinals.
