George Lucas to release Star Wars in 3D from 2012 | Inspired by the phenomenal success of 'Avatar', director
George Lucas has decided to release all the six 'Star Wars' films in 3D from 2012. Actor David Prowse as Darth Vader in The Empire Strikes Back The saga in 3D will
begin with the release of the 1999 prequel Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom
Menace, with the remaining films following in sequence. "The live-action Star
Wars saga will be converted to 3D. There are few movies that lend themselves more
perfectly to 3D. The Star Wars Saga has always delivered an entertainment experience
that is completely immersive," the Telegraph quoted a statement from Lucasfilm,
the US director's film production company, on the Star Wars website, as saying.
"The cutting edge conversion will take that immersion to the next thrilling level."
Visual effects supervisor John Knoll said: "For Star Wars we will take our time,
applying everything we know both aesthetically and technically to bring audiences
a fantastic new Star Wars experience."
