CWG Organising Committee to look into expenses made on Hooper’s accommodation, says VK Malhotra | Vice Chairman of Commonwealth Games’ Organizing Committee Vijay Kumar Malhotra on Monday said that the committee will look into the money being spent on C’wealth Games Federation’s Chief Executive Officer Mike Hooper’s
accommodation in India. He said the payment being made for Hooper and the staff
assisting him will be audited. “I don’t have full information about it, but its true that
Mike
Hooper has been working here for very long time. He is part of the OC and he
should
not have resorted to this. We are also trying to collect information and see how
much we are spending on these people,” V.K.Malhotra told Times Now here today.
The channel has claimed to have gained access to documents which reveal that Mike
Hooper's princely accomodation for the last 26 months was funded by the CWG
Organising
Committee. The monthly rent for Mike Hooper's accommodation amounts to Rs.
450,000,
that is paid on a quarterly basis. The expense per quarter has been 13.5 Lakhs.
Besides, a monthly salary of over Rs. 37,000 is being paid by the CWG Organising
Committee (OC) to six domestic staff exclusively assisting Hooper. The monthly
salary of his staff is rupees Rs.37,375. Moreover, the income tax liability of
86 lakhs for a year is to be borne by the Organising Committee, the Times Now
reported. Earlier in a controversial statement, in a key meeting at the Games
Village , Mike Hooper reportedly said, "I am not interested in India 's pride.
My priority is to ensure that Commonwealth Games go on smoothly."
