South Kashmir encounter ends after 7 hrs

      The seven-hour long encounter in Pulwama district of south Kashmir ended today after three Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militants and an elderly woman were killed. Local Lashkar commander Mehrajuddin is also said to have been killed in the encounter. According to police, four jawans were also injured in the encounter. Two killed militants were Pakistani nationals, police said. The encounter took place when the militants hiding in a house opened fire on a police and CRPF, who jointly conducted a search operation at Amlar-Tral, 50 km from Srinagar An elderly woman, killed in the encounter, was the wife of the house owner. The slain militants have been identified as Zahid alias Abu Shahid and Abu Dujana. Three Ak 47 rifles were recovered from them.
