Oprah Winfrey donates £4m to help troubled schools in US

     TV titan Oprah Winfrey has donated 4 million pounds to organisations that help troubled schools in America. The talk show host donated the sum to six educational institutes in Philadelphia, California, Colorado, Illinois, Louisiana and Texas in a bid to boost their good work. Winfrey's Angel Network charitable organisation described them as "ground-breaking leaders in the provision of quality public education," reports the Daily Express. The star's generous announcement came as she hosted a panel of education reform advocates on Monday, which saw Microsoft founder Bill Gates and director Davis Guggenheim support the cause.
