An Australian Court has sentenced an Indian national Harjot Hundal Singh for 13 years for raping a young university student in Melbourne. Singh (27) abducted his victim while she was walking home from Springvale railway station, in Melbourne 's south-east, on June 18 last year. Singh, who arrived in Australia on a spousal visa in 2008, would be at risk of reoffending if not properly treated in prison, Judge Harbison said. Crown prosecutor Ray Gibson had called for a maximum term of between 12 and 14 years and a minimum of between nine and 12 years. He said the offending act could be described as "every woman's nightmare".
