Malaysian biker wins fourth round of Asian championship near Chennai

      A Malaysian rider Mohammad Zamri Baba won the fourth round of the 2010 Petronas Asia Road Racing Championship in the premier SuperSports 600cc category held at the Madras Motor Race Track in Irungattukottai near Chennai. The fourteen-year-old Petronas Asia Road Racing Championship provides a platform for Asian motorcycle champions to excel and each international riders standards of racing. Eighteen teams and riders from eight countries, including Malaysia, Thailand, China, Japan, Australia, Indonesia, India and Singapore are participating in the 2010 season. "This year we have seven national champions, who are racing in the Asian Championship. The idea at this moment, we realise that the standard of the riders between each country's are different, but them racing together, they improve their level to much more quickly, so that is the goal and want all the riders to be of high quality," said Ronhogg, Director of Petronas Asia Road Racing Championship. The Petronas Yamaha rider Baba, who started from Grid 4, went hard on the throttle to clock a total time of 32:54.194 second. Baba was 2.382s ahead of Thailand's duo of Decha Kraisart (32:56.576s) and Chalermpol Polomai (33:05.092s) who came in second and third place respectively. With this win, Baba has climbed up two positions to third with 87 points in the overall SuperSports 600cc standings. Toshiyuki Hamaguchi rider participating from the Indian team Moto-Rev India finished fifth clocking a time of 33:11.121s. With two more rounds left in the 2010 championship, next one being in China starting from October 28, Kraisart continues to seal his position at the top of the standings with 108 points followed by Polomai in second with 90 points.
