15 J-K police personnel suspended for shoe-hurling incident

     At least 15 personnel of the Jammu and Kashmir police were suspended on Sunday evening over the breach of security as observed in the shoe-hurling incident during the Independence Day function here. The suspended police personnel include four officers. A shoe was hurled at Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah by a suspended head constable during the I-Day function in Srinagar . The CM, however, escaped from getting hit by the hurled shoe. Just as the Chief Minister was about to unfurl the flag, it came flying from behind the stands. The man was dressed in civilian clothes. He raised black flags and shouted slogans. But the security personnel nabbed him immediately and he was whisked away. “At the time of unfurling the flag a person hurled a shoe towards the podium. He was whisked away by Security forces personnel from the venue for questioning which revealed his identity as Abdul Ahad Jan s/o Dillawar Jan r/o Ajas District Bandipora, a suspended Head Constable reportedly mentally unsound and facing charges in a criminal case under FIR No:123 dated: May 21st 2010 registered against him in |Police Station Parimpora. He was arrested by Parimpora Police in this case and was later bailed out by the Court,” an official release stated.
