Australian court awards nine year jail term to Muslim 'do-it-yourself jihad' book writer | An Australian court has sent a man who produced a 'do-it-yourself jihad' book to nine years imprisonment. The NSW Supreme Court jury had found Belal
Khazaal guilty of producing a book which contained objectionable material regarding
assisting in terrorist acts, and knowing about plotting attacks. However, Khazaal
maintained that he had never intended to incite terrorist acts. The 110-page book
in Arabic, titled 'Provisions Of The Rules of Jihad - Short Judicial Rulings And
Organisational Instructions For Fighters And Mujahideen Against Infidels' contains
details about terrorist acts such as bombings, shooting down planes and assassinating
eminent personalities of the world such as former US president George Bush. Commenting
on the judgment, Justice Megan Latham said she found it 'unsurprising' that a
jury had rejected Khazaal's defence. "It beggars belief that a person of average
intelligence who has devoted themselves to the study of Islam over some years
would fail to recognise the nature of the material," The news.co quoted Latham,
as saying. |
