The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium hosted a two-day Asian All-Star Athletics meet as a step forward to get prepared for the upcoming Commonwealth Games in October. This event lent a first hand feeling and experience for representatives and functionaries of athletic associations of various countries ahead of the Commonwealth Games to be held during October. Suresh Kalmadi, Chairman of Commonwealth Games Organising Committee and Sebastian Coe, Chairman of 2012 London Olympics Committee were present on the occasion. Kalmadi who also heads the athletics federation said that the Asian All Star Athletic Meet would be the preparation for the Indian athletes for the mega event of Commonwealth Games. "Indian athletes will be able to get home surface practice and I am sure that the Asian Athletic Championship today will help them compete and produce good timings in the Commonwealth Games.
