India reacts on WikiLeaks, asks Pak to cease its policy of sponsoring terrorism | India today officially reacted on the revelations made
in the documents leaked on Monday by WikiLeaks, and asked Pakistan to cease its policy of sponsoring terrorism. In a strongly worded statement, India has asked
Pakistan to cease forthwith its policy of sponsoring terrorism and stop the utilization
of its territory for recruiting and providing haven to terrorists. “Sponsorship
of terrorism, as an instrument of policy, is wholly condemnable and must cease
forthwith,” said Ministry of External Affairs official spokesperson Vishnu Prakash
in a statement. ”The utilization of territory under Pakistan's control to provide
sanctuaries for recruiting and sustaining terrorist groups, and to direct terrorist
activity against neighbors, must stop if our region is to attain its full potential
for peaceful development,” he added. WikiLeaks, the whistle-blower organization
has posted over 90,000 classified US military reports about the Afghan war on
its website, which exposes Pakistan ’s spy agency, ISI's profound links with Taliban,
and its complicity in terrorist attacks on Indian interests in Afghanistan including
attack on the Indian Embassy in 2008. The leak is seen as a biggest in US military
history. The information provided by the website suggest that Pakistan, an ostensible
ally of the United States, allows representatives of its spy service to meet directly
with the Taliban in secret strategy sessions to organize networks of militant
groups that fight against American soldiers in Afghanistan, and even hatch plots
to assassinate Afghan leaders including the President Hamid Karzai. The document
dealing with the Indian Embassy is titled “Threat Report…Threat to Indian Embassy.”
The date of information is June 30, 2008 , while the date of report is July 1,
2008 . The organisation involved is “Taliban Centre.” The latest revelations made
by WikiLeaks has come as a big embarrassment for Islamabad, which claims to be
a frontline ally of United States in its war against terror and has been receiving
a hefty dole from Washington for its efforts. The confidential papers leaked on
WikiLeaks website, which reportedly gives a first hand account of nexus between
Taliban and ISI only echoes what India has been trying bring to the knowledge
of the international after the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks and the recent expose
will further vindicate India’s position. |
