A Saudi court in the northern town of Ha'il convicted four women and eleven men for mingling at a party and sentenced prison term and flogging. All these eleven convicted men aged between 30 and 40 years, and three out of four women aged below 30 years were sentenced to an unspecified number of lashes and one or two year prison terms each. A fourth woman has been spared a prison term but will undergo 80 lashes on grounds of being a minor. According to The Telegraph, the officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity revealed that the police saw the group partying until dawn last month. Saudi Arabia follows a strict interpretation of Wahabi Islam that prohibits unrelated men and women from mingling.
